Freshman Ryleigh Hill is currently reading “Girl in Pieces” by Kathleen Glasgow.
“It tells a really important story that I think a lot of people turn a blind eye to,” Hill said. “It’s overall really a good story.”
The young adult book follows the story of Charlie, a 17-year-old high school student who struggles with self-harm. Charlie later gets admitted into a treatment center, after her last suicide attempt. Now, Charlie is left to navigate her new life after being abruptly released from the center.
“[Kathleen Glasgow] is not afraid to write from a different point of view and topics that most people shy away from,” Hill said.
Kathleen Glasgow is an American author who is most famous for her novels “The Glass Girl” and “Girl in Pieces.” Glasgow is known for covering serious topics in her books, such as suicide, alcoholism, and depression.
“Girl in Pieces” is a coming-of-age-story that focuses on the importance of mental health and addiction.
