Sophomore Pi Fritschy just read “The Perks of Being a Wallflower” by Stephen Chbosky.
“I really liked how personal it was,” Fritschy said. “This one had no shame, and it really just dove into all issues that can be found in a teenager’s life.”
The young adult book follows the story of Charlie, a new freshman in high school in the 1990s. He becomes friends with two seniors, falls in love, and has to deal with the trauma of his past, while standing on the sidelines observing. By the end of the book, he has learned who he is, his place, and the nature of love.
“I chose the book because I’d seen the movie a couple years back and forgot about how good it was,” Fritschy said. “I always found the topic of just everyday life stories interesting.”
