Junior Kieran Bell recently finished reading “Jurassic Park” by Michael Crichton.
“I enjoyed the unique spin on the use of genetically modified beings and genetic engineering as well as the fascinating traits of the dinosaurs explored within the book,” Bell said. “The action scenes were also very nice. It felt like a movie script.”
“Jurassic Park” is a 1990 science fiction novel used as a cautionary tale about genetic engineering. It shows the collapse of an old amusement park that showcases genetically recreated dinosaurs.
“I’ve always loved dinosaurs and the Jurassic Park movies,” Bell said. “I heard that the book was much more different than the movie with more details than what’s shown in the film, so I decided to read the book.”
Crichton was an American author, screenwriter, and filmmaker. He is best known for “Jurassic Park” and the television show “ER.” Crichton’s works are usually within the science fiction, techno-thriller and medical fiction genres.
“Jurassic Park” has been made into six different movies, all taking concepts from the books and turned into a movie series. “Jurassic Park” is still one of his most popular books even after Crichton’s passing on November 4, 2008.
“It’s a unique spin on the often used structure of writing while at the same time putting a unique spin on the monster stories that came before it,” Bell said.
