Pre-calculus teacher Kristin Peavyhouse recently read “The Unhoneymooners” by Christina Lauren.
“I really enjoy books that are fun and light, like romantic comedies,” Peavyhouse said. “And that’s what this was. I didn’t want to put it down.”
The sister of a bride and the groom’s best man find themselves on a honeymoon together after the wedding they attended. Since the newly-weds fell sick, along with the wedding party, the unaffected pair have to attend the trip instead. Initially despising each other, the book follows the two characters’ relationship as it builds up throughout the trip.
“I’ve read scary books, all sorts of genres, but I keep coming back to the light-hearted romantic comedy,” Peavyhouse said.
The pen name Christina Lauren refers to two young adult and romance authors, Christina Hobbs and Lauren Billings. Other popular books by the authors include “Autoboyography” and “The Soulmate Equation.” Together, they have written 33 romantic comedies and young adult romance novels.
“I’d recommend this book to anybody who likes romantic comedy, whether it’s a high-schooler or an adult,” Peavyhouse said.
The book represents the idea that opposites do attract, and love can be found in unexpected places.
