Drama teacher Lauren Kuykendall recently finished “Daisy Jones and The Six” by Taylor Jenkins Reid.
“I like that it goes through different viewpoints of each character, so it’s not narrated by just one person, ” Kuykendall said. “You get the full experience of what each character was truly feeling in the moment.”
The book is a historical fiction that tells the story of a band that was formed in the ‘70s. Daisy’s parents do not care about what she does, and she ends up getting involved with the club scene.
Eventually her voice is noticed, and a band led by Billy Dunne is also noticed and they cross paths. Producers realize they are the perfect match for each other so they form a complete band that is set for success. The book also goes through all the band members point of view throughout the story.
“I watched the TV show initially, and I love all things that are disco, music from the ‘60s and ‘70s,” Kuykendall said. “Since the show was so good I wanted to read the book to get more background on it.”
Taylor Jenkins Reid has written many books. She has written many different genres including historical fiction, romance, and contemporary fiction/romance. Reid’s most famous books are “Carrie Soto is Back: A Novel” and “The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo.”

“I definitely would recommend it,” Kukendall said. “However, I would recommend getting parent approval.”
