With finals coming up next week, “Dancing with the Stars” had a Taylor Swift themed night over Thanksgiving Break that determined who was eliminated and who qualified to move on to the semifinals.
Taylor Swift Night was a night of The Eras Tour. That night each couple performed a routine to their favorite song, and then competed in teams to earn points added to the original score.
My favorite couple from the individual routine were Xotchitl Gomez and Val Chmerkovskiy. Xotchitl and Val performed a beautiful quickstep routine to the song “Paper Rings” from the “Lover” album. They scored a total of 38 points out of 40 for the first round.
For the dance relay, the couples were split into three teams of two couples and from each team one was a winner that received bonus points and the other remained with the same points.
The team that was eliminated on Taylor’s Night were Harry Jowsey and Rylee Arnold. They performed a rumba routine to “August” from “Folklore” and received a total of 30 points and received the least amount of votes.
On semifinals night each of the remaining five couples performed a Latin and a ballroom dance. There were no eliminations in the semifinals.
At the top of the scoreboard were Xotchitl Gomez and Val Chmerkovskiy. They received a perfect score for both Latin and ballroom dance and were first safe from eliminations. In second place were Charity Lawson and Artem Chenvisnkiy with a total of 59 points out of 60. Charity and Artem got a perfect score on the Latin dance and a 29 out of 30 in the ballroom.
With the finale of season 32 coming up next week, the remaining couples will perform a routine to a redemption and a freestyle dance.
The finale will stream live on Disney+ and ABC on December 5 at 8 p.m. Viewers are allowed to vote until the last commercial break.
