On this week’s episode of “Dancing with the Stars,” the dancers paid tribute to Whitney Houston. Billy Porter appeared as a guest judge.
The seven remaining teams competed against each other for two rounds. The first round was a dance in honor of Whitney Houston. The second round they got split up into three groups of two teams and performed against each other on stage for bonus points.
Harry Jowsey and Alyson Hannigan went against each other, since they were at the bottom of the leaderboard for the season. Alyson and Sasha won the battle and earned three points that were added to their original score, making it 36 out of a possible 40.
Barry Williams competed against Daniela Karagarash. Williams and partner Peta Murgatroyd won the competition and finished in the middle of the leaderboard with a total of 35 points.
Charity Lawson and Xotchitl Gomez were the third group. Lawson and Artem Chigvinstev earned three bonus points added to their score from round one.
My favorite couple this week was Xotchitl Gomez and Val Chmerkovskiy. They performed to the song “I wanna dance with somebody” by Whitney Houston. They had the best choreography. They received the first perfect score from the individual team dance performances.
The couple with the highest points were Ariana Madix and Pasha Pashkov with a total of 42 points. They received a nine from Carrie Ann, and a ten from the rest, plus bonus points from last week’s performance.
At the bottom of the leaderboard were Harry Jowsey and Rylee Arnold with a score of 28 out of 40 points. They lost the battle so they did not earn any bonus points.
The eliminations this week were Barry Williams and Peta Murgatroyd. They performed a rumba routine to the song “Didn’t We Almost Have It All” by Whitney Houston and received an eight from each judge.
Next week’s theme will be “A Celebration of Taylor Swift” where each of the remaining teams will dance to their favorite Taylor Swift song. Mandy Moore will appear as guest judge.
