In this week’s episode of “Dancing with the Stars” the theme was Motown Night. The 12 remaining teams had to perform a routine to a tango, cha-cha-cha, foxtrot, jive, rumba, or quickstep dance.
This week, Michael Strahan appeared as a guest judge and the performances were scored out of 40 points. Charity Lawson was back on the floor with her partner Artem Chigvinstev.
This week in first place there was a tie. Jason Mraz and Daniella Karagach performed a juve routine to the song “Do You Love Me” by The Contours. They were also the first team of the season to earn a nine from the judges. Ariana Madix and Pasha Pashkov competed in a quickstep routine to the song “You Can’t Hurry Love” by The Supremes. Both teams scored a total of 34 points out of 40.
There was also a tie for second place. Xochitl Gomez and Val Chmerkovskiy performed a foxtrot routine to the song “My Guy” by Mary Wells. Charity Lawson and Artem Chigvinstev performed a foxtrot routine to the song “My Girl” by The Temptations. Both teams received 32 points out of 40.
The eliminations for this week were Tyson Beckford and Jenna Johnson, who earned a total of 20 points out of 40. They performed a foxtrot routine to the song “Master Blaster (Jammin)” by Stevie Wonder.
The couple that performed the best in my opinion were Lele Pons and Brandon Armstrong. They danced on time, showed lots of energy, and worked together throughout the week. This team showed a lot of improvement since their last performance.
Next week’s theme will be “Disney 100 night” and the remaining 11 teams will perform a routine to a song from the past 100 years of Disney.
Voting is available on ABC every premiere night starting at 8 p.m. and ending right after the last team performs.
“Dancing with the Stars” can be streamed live every Tuesday at 8 p.m. on Disney+ and ABC. It is available on Hulu the following morning.
