Cheers & Jeers
Cheers

Cheers to Zach Bryan. He held two amazing concerts in Mercedes Benz Stadium, one on Saturday and another on Sunday. Sunday’s performance included a 15-minute rendition of “Revival.”

Cheers to the Olympics. The U.S. tied with China for most gold medals and got most medals overall. Women’s events earned 65% of the U.S. gold medals.

Cheers to the softball team. They are starting off the season 4-0. We wish them good luck this season.

Cheers to Shawn Mendes. After going underground for some time, he has resurfaced with a few new songs, including “Why Why Why.”

Cheers to Dr Pepper. No one quite knows the flavor of this soda, but it is still iconic and delicious. It is also an independently run brand which adds to its greatness.

Cheers to 9292 Korean BBQ. This new place has already become a local hit. Before it opened, you had to drive to Atlanta to get a hotpot meal, but now it is available in the Avenue.

Jeers

Jeers to Rachel Gunn. This Australian breakdancer’s moves were nothing short of unique. From the way she spun to her little wolf pose, her dance to “Down Under” by Men at Work will not be soon forgotten.

Jeers to sunburns. Because of the Georgia heat, sunburns are inevitable. What makes it even worse is uneven tans and the process of trying to get rid of those tans.

Jeers to traffic. With the start of school, we are back to the awful traffic all along Panther Path. What would regularly be a five minute drive, can quickly become a 10-12 minute one.

Jeers to first week homework. Students are already swamped with hours of homework, which makes the start of the year feel like impending burn out. Hopefully with time, the workload will ease out, or we will get more used to it.

Jeers to political ads. Since it is an election year, political ads are at an all-time high. Most are 2-3 minutes long, and YouTube now makes them unskippable.

Jeers to Twitter. Ever since Elon Musk bought it, racism and bigotry have been rampant on the platform. Time to put an “X” on the platform.
