All reality shows have a conflict that keeps the viewers watching throughout the episodes. Reality T.V. shows have many different genres that fit based on how we perceive ourselves. There are researchers who have found that we watch certain shows that align with our value system and that helps make up our ego. If things like self-status and self-importance are something we value, then we tend to be attracted to shows that degrade others to make their own ego feel better.
Many men and women that go on these reality shows end up getting temporary fame and after their time is up on the show, their real talent shines through. In some cases, reality stars end up making millions of dollars and become very rich and successful, but there are also times where the same stars use their money poorly and get stuck in financial debt.
While these reality stars come from all kinds of backgrounds, whether that be from being a nepo baby or starting from the bottom and working to the top, they teach us that if we get onto a reality show, all our troubles will go away.
However, people like North West, Kim Kardashian and Kanye West’s first born child, have been on her mom’s reality shows ever since she was born. She has gotten a few debuts now, one being her ‘Lion King’ performance that had gotten quite a bit of clapback from social media as people believe that the other kids who auditioned deserved it more than her.
Her other debut was when she featured on one of Kanye West’s songs and had mixed opinions on the lyrics. These people who blindly support nepo babies fuel their ego and influence not just the kids, but us as the viewers that as long as we become famous we’ll get our debut’s too and make it big.
Reality television influences many thoughts and emotions of ours that could be a detriment to our self image and our self worth.
