LeBron James is already considered to be one of the greatest, but when it comes down to being the greatest, people seem not to put him in that category. People say he has no clutch factor, or call him a crybaby and a coward.
Truth is, he is none of these things. He has shown to be clutch and although he has his moments with crying on the court, crying one or two times does not make him a crybaby.
James’ accolades include being four-time NBA champion, four-time NBA finals MVP, four-time regular season MVP winner, 20-time all-star, and three-time all-star game MVP. He has also played in the NBA Finals 10 times.
A lot of people bring up James’ finals record, four wins and six losses, but they fail to realize that it takes talent and pure greatness to go to that many Finals. Jordan only played in six NBA Finals.
James is a much better role model and teammate than cigar-smoking and avid-gambler Jordan. We have never seen James’ name in headlines for a negative reason. If you look up Jordan’s name you will see countless articles about how he was a bad teammate and how he was addicted to gambling.
Longevity is a good part of a great NBA career. LeBron has been playing the game of basketball since 2003 while Jordan retired multiple times.
Jordan’s competition compared to James’ competition is a dramatic drop in talent. The teams James faced, such as the 2016 Warriors, the 2014 Spurs, the 2008 Celtics, and even the 2012 Oklahoma City Thunder were considered superteams and all have modern NBA legends and future Hall of Fame inductees on their team.
Basketball will always continue to get better and better. It is just part of evolution. So as basketball gets better we have to move on from older legends and crown newer legends. I am not saying Jordan is terrible, he is just not better than LeBron James.
You just watched your team win the Western Conference Finals and move to the finals in hope of winning a championship. You look to see who you are playing and see Michael Jordan and the Bulls. You then realize you have no chance as MJ is 6-0 in the finals.
Michael Jordan is the best player to ever touch a basketball. He took a break from basketball and retired briefly, and then he came out of retirement to lead the Bulls to a second championship three-peat.
Michael Jordan is the only player to have the scoring title, all-defensive team selection, regular season MVP, championship, and finals MVP all in the same season. He did this four times throughout his career.
Lebron may be the all-time scoring leader, but he is playing in a generation where defense is no longer a primary need, making these games much higher scoring. Jordan has 10 scoring titles while James only has one, and Jordan has five MVPs to James’s four even with playing six more NBA seasons than Jordan did.
Not to mention how clutch MJ is as he has a 50% rate in clutch shots while Lebron only has a 29.6%.
Jordan has won many defensive selections where he played his heart out to get a stop. Jordan has a total of nine all-defense selections where James only has six. Jordan played 405 games less than James, and he still has almost 300 more steals.
Jordan knows how to win and win a lot as he has two more championships than James. In the biggest moments on the biggest stages Jordan does not lose and he proved that six times, not losing a single championship in his career.
In the playoffs Jordan goes on takeover time as he averages nearly 34 points per game to James’s 28.5 per game.
Jordan also took down Magic Johnson in the Finals and he is widely regarded as the best PG of all time. Jordan also defeated Karl Malone, one of the most dominant players of all time using his strength and freak athleticism at his size to dominate players.
Michael Jordan has played against some of the best of the best and won. He beat the best and never lost to the best, making him the best of the best.
