World – Controversy stirs, two passengers kicked off in Hong Kong Airlines
On September 17, in the course of a flight from Hong Kong to London, a dispute ensued between two women over one of the women not wanting to raise her seat. The incident later went viral as one of the women posted it online.
In the video, derogatory terms are said by both women who speak Mandarin and Cantonese. Other passengers add on and bash the flight attendants for not doing enough to de-escalate the situation. This is not the only recent incident similar to this one.
Airline CEO Ronald Lam announced that he will lead a task force to ensure that similar incidents like these do not happen in the future. He also went on to emphasize that employees will learn more about different backgrounds.
State – With Hurricane Helene sweeping over Georgia, stay safe while on the roads
Hurricane Helene is sweeping over the state of Georgia, causing heavy rainfall, potential for tornadoes, and strong winds. With this severe weather, it is important to stay safe, especially with the danger of flash flooding.
According to The National Weather Service, flash flooding is the top weather-related killer in the United States, and almost half of those occur in vehicles. While floodwaters can rise up to 30 feet, even just 6 inches is enough to reach the bottom of many people’s cars, causing loss of control. A foot of water can float many vehicles, and just two feet of water can carry them away.
If you are caught in your vehicle during a flash flood, find a pocket of air and roll down your window and be ready to swim if needed. Make sure to stay safe on the roads and be careful when driving in rainy weather.

Politics – Trump meets with Ukraine president to discuss Ukraine assistant
On Friday, former President Donald Trump and the Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky will meet at Trump Tower in the morning for Zelensky to make a pitch to President Trump. As of right now Zelensky has been skeptical of further US security help against Russia. The two had a meeting earlier in the week but was left unclear from both of them being critical of the other.
It is unclear if Zelensky will be able to convince Trump to continue adding Ukraine in the war. Zelensky has also gone to the Biden administration to also convince them to still send troops to aid in the battle. It has also been known that Trump disagrees with the funding that is going to Ukraine, and he claims he will quickly end the war. The former president has criticized how Zelensky has not yet made a deal with Russia and criticized how the handling of the war had been going.
Trump left things open ended when talking about if Ukraine should give up the territory to Russia as a means to end the war. As of right now it is unknown how the meeting went.
