PBIS has announced March’s Staff Member of the Month and Students of the Month.
Math teacher Heather McNally nominated learning specialist Lynn Peterson. She was nominated for her sweet personality and helpful nature.

“Ms. Peterson is always sweet and kind,” McNally said. “[She’s] just so easy to work with.”
Other staff members nominated were guidance secretary Stacy Nichols, and guidance counselors Ashley Clay, Meshanna Marcus, and Pam Lewis, LEA Amy Evert, English teacher Katie Tucker, science teachers Amy Hinote, Christie Leanza, Samantha Krage, and Jessica Tatum, and assistant principal Nateil Carby.
English teacher and journalism adviser Justin Spencer nominated senior Evan Fish for upperclassman of the month. He was nominated for his inspiration during the morning announcements and his helpfulness as The Prowler video editor.

“If you have not seen the work that Evan Fish does can you even call yourself a Panther?” Spencer said. “I have a lot of respect for his talent and his abilities.”
The other upperclassman nominees were senior Hunter Lister and junior David Taylor.
Science teacher Kelly Rock nominated freshman Alex Saunders for underclassman of the month. He was nominated for his show of accountability by taking his studies seriously and getting help when he needs it.
“Alex is always prepared for class and often double checks to make sure he has the right materials and the right assignments he needs,” Rock said.

Other underclassman nominees were sophomores Peyton Chandler, Tucker Gregory, Gabrielle McConnell, and freshmen Carver Lawson and Jillian Moore.
Once a month Elise Heaton, the assistant principal in charge of PBIS, sends out a link to the staff so that they can nominate teachers and students on their good mannerism. The PBIS committee, composed of Heaton, a PBIS coach, and other staff, voted on the PBIS staff and students of the month.
“The PBIS program at Starr’s Mill helps us focus on the three core values that we want all of our students and staff to exhibit on a daily basis: respect, accountability, and responsibility,” assistant principal Elise Heaton. “So with PBIS and focusing on these three things we can celebrate the positive things going on in our building instead of the negative things, which will hopefully encourage others to show those positive values as well.”
