Trunk or treat is a fun, student-led event where the sports teams and clubs come together to make a fun trick-or-treating event for young kids in the community.
“I’m very excited about the trunk or treat because I get to give out candy to little kids who look up to us,” junior baseball player Parker Williams said. “I did trunk or treat last year with the seniors and some of the other people on the team.”
At the event the sports teams and the clubs decorate their golf carts, give out candy and sometimes they have fun activities for the kids.
“At our baseball stand we have a net with a radar gun and some baseballs to see how hard you can throw,” junior baseball player Brock Rein said. “I think it’s gonna be lots of fun.”
Since this event is mostly on the students, it gives them the chance to show leadership skills and make memories with the younger kids. It is also an opportunity for the kids who show up to trunk or treat to see what Starr’s Mill students can do.
“Hopefully, we get a lot of kids to show up. I think it’s great for our students at Starr’s Mill to get out and help our community,” athletic director Rick Fontaine said. “We have an arrangement in the parking lot where all of the golf carts go and hopefully we bring lots of candy.”
Trunk or treat has been an annual event for four years now. This year’s event will be held from 6-8 p.m. in the faculty parking lot at Starr’s Mill High School.
