As part of welcoming in the new C. Jay Smith Memorial Skatepark, the city of Newnan hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony last Friday morning.

The skatepark, located at 5 Glenn Street in Newnan, is the newest and largest skatepark and pump track combination in Georgia. The park took around two years to plan and create, including many additions that were added in the past year.

Some additions included the pump track, a splash pad, a larger interactive playground, two 30-feet long slides, and additional parking as well as accessible restrooms.

Bicyclists, roller skaters, and more can make great use of the park. Along with a pump track, the skatepark features ramps, rails, and a large swimming pool-sized bowl.

The city of Newnan will host a grand opening community event on August 21 from 1-5 p.m. There will be prizes, food trucks, live music, demonstrations, and more.
