Math team adds up third place finish

Varsity math team wields its third place plaque from recent competition at Luella High School. The team competes again on Oct. 27 at Rockdale High School.

On Sept. 29, the varsity math team placed third at Luella High School. This is the opening competition of the math competition season.

“In the past we’ve seen a one-person-takes-all approach to problem solving, but this year we’ve been able to work together and we’ve been more cohesive than ever,” junior Brock Spence said.

At the competition, Columbus High School secured first place with McIntosh High School close behind. Starr’s Mill rounded out the top three..

Scoring included team and individual tests. “It was the top four individual test takers, and then they take the ciphered scores together,” coach Wendy Willoughby said.

The team competes next on Oct. 27 at Rockdale High School.
