MUSINGS literary-art magazine now accepting submissions
January 12, 2018
The MUSINGS literary-art magazine at Starr’s Mill High School is now accepting submissions for the spring semester. Any Starr’s Mill student who has a passion for prose, poetry or art can submit their work for publication.
“I think we are in great shape,” MUSINGS co-adviser Jillian Bowen said. “We have a fantastic staff with some new and innovative ideas.”
MUSINGS recently earned first place with special merit from the American Scholastic Press Association, missing a perfect score by only four points. Despite this, Bowen is constantly thinking about ways to improve their score. She plans to use more technology in this year’s magazine to make it more interactive for readers.
The magazine also received a superior rating from the National Council of Teachers of English.
Entries to the magazine must be original. Works will be judged on writing ability, creativity, and originality. All entries need to be typed, double-spaced, or neatly written on only the front side of the paper. Students should not include their name directly on the entry.
Students interested in submitting work can pick up a submission form in any English classroom. Turn in forms to Jillian Bowen’s room 706 or Justin Spencer’s room 703. Students may also email entries to [email protected]. The deadline for entries is Feb. 14.
