Prom 2016 will be held at the College Football Hall of Fame tomorrow. Starr’s Mill will be the second school to host its prom at this venue, which opened in August 2014.

Each year the Mill’s junior class officers and sponsors are in charge of hosting prom, and this year the Class of 2017 hopes to score big with the “Red Carpet Kickoff.”

Prom 2016 takes place tomorrow from 7-11 p.m. at the College Football Hall of Fame. The facility, which opened in August 2014, is located directly across from Centennial Olympic Park and a few blocks from the World of Coca-Cola.

Starr’s Mill will be one of the first proms held at this venue, providing a new dynamic from previous years’ proms held at Club Opera.

“We spent a day touring venues during second semester last year,” junior Caroline Dillon said. “We had to start looking early, and the College Football Hall of Fame just seemed like a unique venue that would appeal to different types of people.” Dillon serves as co-vice president for the Class of 2017 alongside president Yuri-Grace Ohashi, co-vice president Dunnchadn Strnad, treasurer Angela Ricketts and co-secretaries Mary Ellis Goins and Aelise Gagliano.

The Class of 2017’s “prom gift” to attendees is an all-access pass for the Hall of Fame’s Fan Experience, a $20 value for regular visitors. Prom-goers will have the opportunity to explore the upper levels of the facility, getting to participate in interactive stations or simply view the museum and skyline view from the top of the building’s vertical football-shaped wing. Total access to upper floors will be open from 7-9:30 p.m.

While the Fan Experience promises an unforgettable night, the real party takes place in the Hall of Fame’s 45-yard replica football field. “The Playing Field” will be transformed from an all-turf sports zone to a pumping prom room opening at 7:30 p.m.

Attendees can either hit the dance floor with the dj or kick back at tables scattered on the turf. For those wanting to “take a timeout on the bench,” assorted desserts and drinks will be served to get them back in the game.

Just outside the Playing Field is “The Quad” where attendees and their guests will check in. Prom-goers can pick up their all-access passes here or register if they have not already done so.  A coat-check counter and LifeTouch photo area will also be in this area.

“I’m excited about spending the night with some of my best friends and making memories that will last for years,” junior Jocelyn Gao said.

The Class of 2017 is hoping to ensure a prom worthy of the “Saturday Night Lights” with the Red Carpet Kickoff. Further information regarding location, limousine drop-off and pick-up along with Prom King and Queen voting is below.
