“Shrek the Musical” drew sell-out crowds at the Willie Duke Auditorium for three of the Drama Department’s four performances in mid-November.
After rehearsing for more than three months, many cast members said they felt prepared to put on a show that would surprise people with their talent and professionalism.
Following an almost sold-out audience on opening-night, the remaining performances were enjoyed by a full auditorium. The cast was led by seniors Ethan Hatcher as Shrek, Taylor Rowell as Donkey, Jonah Wagoner as Lord Farquaad, and junior Camille Edwards as Princess Fiona.
One stand-out performance that wowed the audience was that of junior Abby Feltner, who was the voice of the Dragon. Feltner had to control the head of the 24-foot-long dragon while singing and dancing.
The onstage cast was supported behind the scenes by a 23-member pit orchestra under the direction of Chorus teacher Dr. John Odom. After months of rehearsing, each group put on an incredible show for hundreds of people to enjoy.
