“Do not fear, for I am with you; do not be afraid, for I am your God. I will strengthen you; I will help you; I will hold on to you with My righteous hand.”
-Isaiah 41:10
In the context of this Scripture, the Israelites had just fought the Babylonians and were tired from the war. Rather than turning to God for their strength and help, the Israelites turned to worldly gods and relied on their own strength to feel comforted.
The book of Isaiah was primarily written by King Hezekiah of Judah. However, in this passage, God is speaking through the prophet Isaiah to King Hezekiah and the Israelites, longing for them to find peace and comfort in Him after the war.
This week’s praise is the comfort we can find in God, who will strengthen us, help us, and protect us.
Although we may not be fighting in physical wars, we fight in spiritual and mental battles each day. Maybe we are struggling with anxious thoughts. Maybe we are battling with toxic patterns in our life. Maybe we are feeling the pull from Satan to go in the wrong direction. Maybe we are fighting constant fear in our life.
Whatever we may be battling this week, let us turn to God who promises to be our strength and help in our hardest times, rather than turning to temporary fixes like the Israelites did.
Dear God, thank You for promising to provide for us, like You did for the Israelites. Thank You for being our strength and help in our daily battles. Please continue to strengthen and comfort us as we follow You and rely on Your goodness.
