Spanish teacher Amber Boyd is the November recipient of the Golden Apple award. She was selected by October’s recipient, Jessica Tatum.
“Boyd is always a positive influence,” Tatum said. “[She has a] positive attitude to teach students.”
Boyd believes that every student can learn and tries to make an engaging and inviting atmosphere for her students.
“Our school demands excellence,” Boyd said. “I, as well, demand excellence of my students.”
Boyd has been teaching for 17 years and has taught at schools in Washington and Georgia.
“We have the best students here at Starr’s Mill,” Boyd said. “I really enjoy just being with them, teaching them.”
Outside of the classroom Boyd does not have much free time but with the time she has she likes to go on walks.
Boyd receives $100 from Farmers Insurance to spend on curriculum and instruction. She will also receive a free large pizza from Buck’s Pizza, a gift certificate to Lisa’s Creperie in Senoia, a goodie bag from Safelite Auto, and a free haircut from Main Hair in Peachtree City.
