Starr’s Mill welcomes Erin Badger back to the Panther family. Badger moved back to Peachtree City from Melissa, Texas, where she taught math at Collin College. Badger graduated from Starr’s Mill in 2003. She teaches geometry, precalculus, and advanced algebra.
“I believe that everyone can be a math person,” Badger said.”People who don’t like math usually have a bad experience, usually with a bad teacher.”
Erin Badger has a Master’s degree in math education from BYU, graduate certificate in math from Texas Tech, and an undergraduate degree from BYU.
“There is no other place where I would want to teach,” Badger said.
Badger’s father, Mike Houghtaling, does the announcing at the football games, and her mom does the scoreboard for the football games.
“My philosophy is that my classroom is a safe place where kids can take risks,” Badger said. “As students take risks they will come to develop and come to an understanding about math.”
While attending Starr’s Mill, Badger played on the JV soccer team. She scored the first ever goal in Panther Stadium.
In her free time Badger loves spending time with her family, playing games, playing or watching sports, and planning vacations to Disney, on cruise ships, or to the beach.
