Starr’s Mill welcomes paraprofessional Katherine Sevy to the Panther family. Sevy is no stranger to the school. She has coached the school’s color guard squad for seven years.
Although Sevy switched up her major a few times, education had always been on the forefront.
“I have always had a passion for working with students, and teaching color guard here at the school has really increased it,” Sevy said.
Her decision to teach at Starr’s Mill was solidified with her experience of becoming a color guard coach and meeting other staff at the school.
“I knew I loved working with the educators and the staff here at Starr’s Mill, so that was the biggest factor in deciding to work here,” Sevy said.
As her first step into a teaching career, Sevy works as a collaborative paraprofessional in the exceptional children’s services department. Her job is mainly to assist students with testing accommodations any time they need help.
“I know school is not something that everybody is extremely excited for, but there is so much joy in learning and finding who and what you want to be,” Sevy said. “I think that’s what I’m most excited about this year.”
In her free time, Sevy loves any water-related outdoor activity, spending time with her friends and family, and getting lost in a good book.
