Starr’s Mill welcomes Spanish teacher Señora Dorcas Acosta to the Panther family.
Acosta received a bachelor’s degree in Spanish language and culture at California State University and worked in human resources before she became a Spanish teacher in 2009 at Ola High School.
“I strongly feel that all students can learn, once you find how they learn best,” Acosta said. “I am very animated when I teach, and I feel that that also helps students learn better.”
Acosta has taught all levels of Spanish including AP Spanish in the past, and she will be teaching Spanish 1 and 2 at Starr’s Mill this year.
“I love to see my students grow. I think that is my biggest inspiration and my biggest drive,” Acosta said. “When I see that my students understand something, that’s just what keeps me going.”
In her free time, Acosta likes to cook and shop. She also enjoys traveling, especially on cruise ships. Acosta is looking forward to going camping in a few months for the first time.
